Banten: Sarana Upacara Yadnya Masyarakat Hindu Bali dalam Perspektif Perubahan Sosial Budaya
Main Article Content
Abstract
Bali Island is often referred to as the island of rituals or “Pulau Banten,” due to the predominance of Hinduism among its inhabitants, a religion closely intertwined with rituals or yadnya. The practice of yadnya invariably involves the use of banten as a medium connecting humans with God. Therefore, the concept of yadnya is always associated with banten. However, discussions about banten today cannot be separated from the changes it has undergone, including alterations in its production process, arrangement, materials used, and other aspects. This study employs a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach. The findings of this research indicate that: 1) Modernisasi has brought behavioral changes among the community, which have extended to offerings such as banten. 2) The emergence of a display culture has led to the extravagance of banten being used as a benchmark of economic capability. 3) Traditional snacks and local fruit as components of banten have gradually been replaced with contemporary products.
